Members of the Sikh community on Wednesday held protests in Delhi against the acquittal given to Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in connection to the 1984 riots.

The protesters halted Metro Rail services at Subhash Nagar Station. They also held protests at Tilak Nagar Station.

The protests threw metro services in the capital out of gear.

As the protests, which have been going on for nearly five hours in these two areas intensified, two metro stations at Subhash Nagar and Tilak Nagar were closed to prevent any untoward incidents.

Sikh groups have said that they will protest outside the official residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday.
