On CNN-IBN: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is likely to return to the Parliamentary Board of Bharatiya Janata Party after a gap of six years.

Modi's close aide and former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to be made the General Secretary.

The BJP will finalise its list of party Parliamentary Board members by late evening on Saturday and in a further boost to Modi's PM ambitions, the Gujarat Chief Minister is likely to be re-inducted into the party's Parliamentary Board.

Modi had been appointed a member of the Parliamentary Board by party president Rajnath Singh in his previous term as the BJP chief but was dropped a year later.

Meanwhile, the return of Shah in the Parliamentary Board has reportedly split the party with a faction opposing it.

Shah had to quit his post after the CBI accused him of being part of the conspiracy to kill Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a fake encounter.
