Maharashtra ATS officer commits suicide

A senior police office attached with Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in front of his family members in a hotel at neighbouring Thane today.        

Though the motive behind Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Banerjee taking the extreme step is being ascertained, police suspect that he was facing some domestic issues in recent months.        

Banerjee, who had joined the police force through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission, is survived by his wife and two sons.
