Govt tells Asaram to cancel Holi celebrations
March 18, 2013  14:12
The Maharashtra government has asked Asaram Bapu to cancel the upcoming celebrations in Navi Mumbai, as a severe drought has gripped many parts of Maharashtra. However, it did not deter the spiritual leader from celebrating a pre-Holi function in Nagpur and wasting many litres of water Sunday, said a social group.

Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (ANS) condemned Asaram Bapu's alleged Holi play and staged a protest.

"A person who calls himself a saint, does he not have basic common sense? How can he waste water like this when millions are thirsting for even a drop?" said ANS state president Narendra Dabholkar.
