Amarnath yatra registration begins

The registration of pilgrims for the annual Amarnath yatra scheduled to commence on June 28 began today through over 400 designated bank branches.

The process started for both the pilgrimage routes -- Baltal and Chandanwari -- through 422 bank branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, State Bank of India, YES Bank, HDFC Bank and Punjab National Bank across the country.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board chairman N N Vohra has said all pilgrims possessing valid registration will be provided an insurance cover of Rs one lakh against accidental death within the state during the yatra period.
