Move Bhopal court for bail: Court to Sadhvi Pragya
March 06, 2013  20:32

The special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court today disposed of the application for temporary bail filed by Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, a key accused in the 2008 Malegoan blast case, saying she should approach a court in Bhopal instead.

"The court said Sadhvi is presently in the custody of the Bhopal court, so she has to apply there," said her lawyer, advocate Ganesh Sovani. Thakur had sought temporary release for performing the post-death rites of her father Chandra Pal Singh, who died in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.

Twelve persons including Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit were arrested for carrying out a blast at Malegaon in Maharashtra on September 29, 2008, killing six persons and injuring 100. The trial is yet to commence as some of the accused have challenged the invocation of MCOCA before the Supreme Court.
