Alagiri, Jayanti Natarajan skips Budget meet

DMK Minister MK Alagiri and Environment minister Jayanti Natarajan were absent in the Union Cabinet yesterday. However, 29 ministers and nine ministers of state were present at the meeting to hear P Chidambaram read out the gist of the Union Budget 2013, a few minutes before his presentation inside Parliament House.

The convention is that the finance Minister takes the Union Cabinet into confidence, a few minutes before the presentation of the budget in the Prime Minister's chambers where the Union Cabinet meeting takes place.
