Fog envelops helipad in Joshimath, rescue operations on hold

About 2,500 people are still stuck in Badrinath and 500 in Harsil in Uttarakhand as bad weather holds up rescue operations in the final stages. The Uttarakhand government says there are still 3000 people missing. The 20 men who died in the chopper crash on Tuesday will be given a guard of honour today. Rescue operations in some parts of Uttarakhand are likely to be called off today. Army Chief Bikram Singh, who flew in to the state today, promised that the army would rescue all the people stranded in the state.
