3000 stranded in Badrinath, 1000 in Harsil: Air chief
June 26, 2013  11:18
Air chief marshal Browne says priority remains rescuing the living. "Two helicopters have left for Badrinath this morning. There are approximately 3000 to 4000 people stuck in Badrinath and around a 1000 in Harshil. If we get four days of good weather, we should be able to pull out all survivors," he said.

He added that the armed forces were acting in close cooperation with the local government and there was no pressure.

As far as reconstruction of Uttarakhand was concerned, it would take time. "Heavy material has to be brought in and building of roads and infrastructure will take time. But we are over the hill," he said.

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government has announced a state mourning of the 19 armed forces personnel who died in the chopper crash yesterday.
