15,000 still trapped in Uttarakhand: Centre

The central government on Monday said that while over 8,000 people had been rescued from the flood-ravaged parts of Uttarakhand, 15,000 people were still feared trapped there.

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had earlier said that the death toll from the disaster could cross the 1,000 mark.
