Sonia tells Shinde to help flood-devastated Uttarakhand, Himachal

Sonia Gandhi directs the chief ministers of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh to provide immediate relief to the victims of the floods. Sonia has also spoke to home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to provide all possible relief to the both the states.

Toll so far: 58 people have died in the Uttarakhand floods, with over 70,000 tourists and pilgrims stranded near Haridwar. So far 700 people have been rescued from Kedarnath. The temple of Kedranath remains intact though the roads and villages around it have been inundated with the floodwaters.
 
Shinde has spoken to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna and assured Central assistance.
