3 ITBF jawans, 2 cops killed in rescue ops in Uttarakhand

Just in: Three jawans from the Indo Tibetan Border Force and two cops have been killed in rescue operations in Uttarakhand. The state continues to reel from the after-effects of heavy monsoon showers and swirling and uncontrollable flood waters.

Most rivers in the state are in spate, even as the flood victim death toll has reached over 50. Houses and buildings have collapsed, furniture is being removed from homes and roads have caved in some parts of the state.

Parts of the Rishikesh-Mana Highway near Joshimath district were reported to be in a damaged state. The Alaknanda and Mandakini Rivers are still overflowing and a bridge over the latter that allows movement towards the Kedarnath Valley is damaged.
