June 13, 2013  14:35
SP Railway, Jamalpur, Amitabh Kumar, tells CNN IBN that the driver of the Intercity Express has been seriously injured as is one RPF jawan. Kumar says there were at least 80 to 100 Naxals (including women Naxals) who stopped the train, while it was passing a thickly wooded area in Jamalpur. The nearest rail head is Jamui.

There was a heavy exchange of fire between the Naxals and the RPF jawans for at least 20 minutes. The main aim of the attack was to get the arms from jawans. The passengers were not targeted or hurt as had been reported earlier. The attack happened at around 1.30 pm.
