Dr Singh at CMs meet: Naxal violence has no place in democracy

Addressing the chief ministers' conference, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, "I welcome all the chief minister and all distinguished partners to this conference."

Talking about the recent Naxal strike he said: Naxal violence has no place in our democracy. The Centre and states need to work together to eliminate such attacks."

The PM said that there was a decrease in Naxal attacks over the past few years, but the Chhattisgarh attack came as a setback. "Proactive measures have been taken to stop such attacks."

To build a broader national consensus, the Centre has called for an all-party meet on June 10, the PM said.
