By-polls: Gujarat: BJP wins 2 LS seats, Bihar: JD(U) loses

Results coming in for the two Lok Sabha and four state Assembly seats where by-polls were held on Sunday. The BJP's candidate Vitthal Radadia has won the Banaskantha seat over Vinu Amipara of the Congress. The BJP has also won the Porbandar Lok Sabha seat. Counting is underway at Panchmahal and Limbadi

In Bihar, it's a prestige battle between Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The JD(U) lost the by-poll at the Maharajganj Lok Sabha seat. The contest was between strongman Prabhunath Singh of Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal and state education minister P K Shahi of the Janata Dal (United).

Nitish Kumar received a setback after the has lost the Maharajganj seat.
