Six injured in powerful explosion in Kashmir

At least six persons were injured in a powerful explosion in Anantnag town in south Kashmir this afternoon, reports Mukhtar Ahmad from Srinagar. A senior police officer said militants lobbed a powerful hand grenade at passing security force vehicles near the office of the district magistrate in Lal Chowk locality of Anantnag town.

"The grenade missed the target and exploded on the road injuring five civilians and a cop. The injured were evacuated to hospital for treatment," the officer said. This is the second grenade attack in Anantnag town in past two days. Late Sunday evening militants had lobbed a grenade at a local police station which exploded without causing any damage. Police has detained some local youth for questioning.
