Prashant Bhushan files PIL against SK Sharma as CAG
June 03, 2013  15:50
Legal eagle Prashant Bhushan today filed a PIL against the appointment of SK Sharma as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

Apart from Bhushan other signatories to the PIL include former chief election commissioner N  Gopalswami, former navy chiefs Admiral (retired) RH Tahiliani and Admiral (retired) Ramdas, and six others.

The petition states, among other things, that Sharma's appointment was questionable as he was defence secretary earlier but now would decide the acquisition cases in which he may have played a role.

However, Bhushan's is not the first PIL to be filed against the CAG appointment. On the very day that Sharma took over as CAG, lawyer ML  Sharma had filed a petition challenging his appointment.

Because of the court's vacation the two PILs are expected to come up for hearing next week.
