Remembering the great Mumbai deluge

Remembering those who lost their lives, this date, in 2005 -- the great deluge of Mumbai. The Indian Meteorological Department recorded a record 944 mm of rain for the 24 hours, beginning 2 pm on July 26 and ended at 8:30 am
on 27 July. It left 409 people dead and cost the exchequer Rs 550 crore.
