Live! WB panchayat polls: Violence spirals; 2 CPM backers found dead

Polling for the fourth phase of panchayat polls have begun in four districts in West Bengal, amid violence and arson. In Birbhum, bodies of two CPM supporters were found this morning at Mayureswar.

 

An independent candidate's father was shot at in Kasba and has been moved to a hospital in Kolkata.In Murshidabad district, two people have been reportedly killed in a bomb blast in Raninagar. Bombing incidents have also been reported in Sultanpur, Jitpur and Raipur in the district.

 

A ballot box has been snatched in Judinda in the district. The situation is also tense in the two other districts of Nadia and Malda where clashes have been reported over the last couple of days.
