Frame guidelines to regulate acid sale, SC tells states

Now, the Supreme Court has asked states to frame rules within three months to regulate retail sale of acid and other corrosive substances.The SC has ruled that acid cannot be sold to minors, while a fine of Rs 50,000 will be slapped on those violating acid sale guidelines.

The SC has also asked the Centre, states and UTs to make acid attack offences non-bailable. Of the Rs 3 lakh compensation to be given to the victim, Rs 1 lakh has to be paid within 15 days. The total payout, however, is Rs 3 lakh.
