Bihars mid-day meal tragedy: Violent protests erupt in Chhapra

Violent protests erupted in Chhapra in Bihar on Wednesday where 21 children died after consuming a mid-day meal in their school. According to television reports, people armed with sticks and rods set blaze a bus and damaged public property.
According to reports, 27 children are undergoing treatment at Patna Medical College And Hospital.
The mid-day meal was served to them at a government primary school in Dahrmasati village at Mashrakh block, about 25 Kms from Chhapra on Tuesday. All the children are between 8 and 12 years and fell ill soon after eating the meal which consisted rice, pulses and soybeans.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered a high level enquiry into the incident. A forensic team will assist in the probe which will be conducted jointly by Saran Divisional Commissioner and DIG.
