Union minister shot at in WB, bombs hurled near car; escapes unhurt

Miscreants have fired five blank shots at Congress leader and union minister Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury. The men also reportedly hurled bombs at the minister's car. The incident happened at West Bengal's Malda district, which is also Ghani Khan's constituency. Khan has escaped unhurt.

He is the younger brother of the late Union minister A B A Ghani Khan Choudhury, and became an MP following Ghani Khan's death in 2006. Ghani Khan won the Malda seat six times in a row, from 1980 to 2004.
