Half of Japan opposes restart of nuclear reactors

A recent survey has revealed that nearly half of the Japanese people are against the country's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's plan to restart nuclear reactors.   

The Japan Times reports that the opinion poll shows that the proportion of people who oppose the nuclear policy came to 49.7 per cent, against 41.1 per cent who back it.   

According to the report, many Japanese remain cautious about the restart of nuclear reactors despite the tighter standards.
