The Met has predicted heavy rains for Uttarakhand today. At least 200 people are still left to be evacuated, though officially all evacuation ended yesterday.

Our colleague who, is from Pauri in Uttarakhand, says after the disaster, people are trying to pick up the pieces and begin a new life. Schools in the state reopen on June 20 and many students after appearing for their Std 10 and Std 12 exams head to small towns like Srinagar and Joshimath to make a quick buck for a few months before that happens. Their families have been waiting anxiously in their villages since most of these children are were in towns badly affected by the floods. There are countless families who have lost their only bread winners and Uttarakhand has become a state of widows.
