Pak another complicated reality on nukes: Hagel
January 31, 2013  23:44
Terming Pakistan as a 'real nuclear power and quite unpredictable', Chuck Hagel, picked to lead the Pentagon, today said that the nation is a very complicated reality in terms of atomic weapons and American assistance to Islamabad should not be 'unconditional'.

His remarks on Pakistan came while he was responding to a question on the threat posed to the US by Iranian's contested nuclear weapon programme in which he said that it poses a threat to the US. North Korea, he said, is "beyond" a threat.

"It's a real nuclear power and quite unpredictable. I think Pakistan is another very complicated reality," Hagel told US lawmakers while responding to the question, without giving any further explanation on his Pakistan remarks.

Earlier in his written answers submitted to the Senate Armed Services Committee, Hagel said the US assistance to Pakistan should not be 'unconditional'.
