Delhites will have to shell out more money for electricity from tomorrow with power regulator DERC effecting upto three per cent hike in tariff to adjust the power purchase cost of distribution companies.

The hike will be three per cent for consumers of BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd while the increase for those getting electricity from Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd is 1.5 per cent.

"We have effected a three per cent hike in tariff for BYPL and BRPL consumers. The hike has been fixed at 1.5 per cent for TPDDL customers," DERC Secretary Jayashree Raghuraman told PTI.

The hike will come into effect from tomorrow for next three months, following which DERC is likely to review the increase based on cost of buying power by the distribution companies.
