Cabinet approves 'diluted' Lokpal Bill

Sheela Bhatt reports: The Union Cabinet has approved the amendments to the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill, 2011. The original provisions of the Bill have been diluted to such an extent that in a candid admission, a minister the ruling UPA confessed smilingly to rediff.com, "It is nimbu-paani (lime juice)!"

The amended Bill virtually has no power over the CBI.
