Extradition treaty with B'desh on the cards

The Cabinet is likely to consider a proposal tomorrow on signing of an extradition treaty with Bangladesh ahead of Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's visit to Dhaka next week.

The long-awaited treaty is being considered by the Cabinet after the Bangladesh government made minor modifications in the draft. The extradition treaty, if signed, will pave the way for deportation of jailed ULFA 'general secretary' Anup Chetia and many other insurgents from the northeast who have been hiding in Bangladesh.
