January 21, 2013  12:24
Just in: Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi has surrendered before a court over a case filed against him in 2005.

Owaisi in 2005 had obstructed a road widening project in Medak district in Andhra Pradesh and threatened the then district collector with dire consequences after police said a place of worship had to be removed.

Cases were filed against the Owaisi brothers (MLA Akbaruddin) and after the duo surrendered before police and obtained bail, they briefly appeared before court, but stopped appearing after 2010.

It may be recalled that his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi is already in jail over the hate-speech case.

Asaduddin has applied for bail.
