The US has said that it is pleased that officials from India and Pakistan are talking to resolve their differences over the situation on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We are pleased to see that they are talking to each other at a high level. We think that's the right way to work it through," State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said when asked if the US was satisfied with the talks between the two South Asian neighbors.

"Our understanding is that the high-level discussions between India and Pakistan continue to try to work through the violence on the line of control, try to re-establish calm and accountability there. We are continuing, as we have been for the last week, to encourage both sides to talk to each other," she said in response to a question.
