Khaps can't decide women's dress code, carrying phones: SC

The Supreme Court said on Monday that any order by Khap panchayats asking women not to carry mobiles or dress in a particular way is violative of law and is an offence. Appearing before a SC bench, top police officers from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana said that Khaps issue socially retrograde resolutions but were never directly involved in the honour killings. Read
