Five-day police custody for hate-speech MLA Owaisi

MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi has been given five-day police custody. Tension prevailed in areas surrounding the historic Charminar today after suspected MIM supporters pelted stones at police protesting the arrest of Owaisi for his alleged hate speech, injuring five policemen and some mediapersons. Scores of protesters pelted stones at cops after the Friday prayers at Mecca Masjid near Charminar, prompting police to lob teargas shells to disperse the mob, police said.
