600 police women to join the Bihar force on Jan 17

The Bihar police is all set to get an additional 600 women constables next week to strengthen the infrastructure of its women police stations in the districts.

The new women police constables have been trained in arms and will be posted in women police stations across the state, he said. Additional Director General of Police, Headquarters, Ravinder Kumar said there are 1500 police women, officer as well constables, in the state at present.

Women police stations were set up in all 40 police districts in the state in 2012 for effective hearing of crimes pertaining to dowry and other family disputes. Out of 40 women police stations in the state, 33 have women station house officers, while 7 others are run by male SHOs due to shortage of women staff.
