Cold persists in capital, icy winds keep mercury down

Delhiites' battle against biting cold continued for another day as mercury today remained at below normal level and icy winds blew throughout the day. The minimum temperature was recorded at 2.4 deg C, slightly better than previous day's 1.9 deg C, the season's lowest so far, but still five notches below the normal. The maximum was, meanwhile, registered at 13.4 deg C, seven degrees below normal and up from yesterday's 11.8 deg C. Fog and icy winds made the morning chilly. Conditions improved as the day progressed with fog giving way to a clear sky, but icy winds blew throughout the day.
