Immolation bid by a man over increasing rape incidents

Even as the entire Nation was boiling over the gang rape incident in Delhi, a 38-year old man today set him ablaze on the premises of Court in Palladam in the nearby Tirupur district, protesting against the increasing rape incidents.

Raju, running a tea shop, raised slogans against the rape and immolated himself, after dousing with kerosene, police said.

Public and police managed to put off the fire and took him to the government hospital there. However, after providing first aid, he was referred and brought to the Coimbatore Medical Colleg.
