He also said the law needs to be amended so that boys over 14 years of age will be treated as adults.

It may be recalled that one of the six accused in the murder and rape of the Delhi girl is a minor. A bone test is being conducted to determine if the youngest suspect in the case is indeed a juvenile. If the test determines he is 18 years or older he will be treated as a legal adult.

Being a minor his trial will be held at the Juvenile Justice Board under the Juvenile Justice Act.  The Juvenile Justice Act has a provision for a maximum sentence of 3 years irrespective of the offense.
 
Even though the accused is only months away from turning major, but since the law takes cognizance of the age at the commission of offense his trial will be held under the Juvenile Act.
