A major lead that has emerged in the investigations in the Hyderabad blasts that has left 16 dead and 119 injured, is that the plan to attack the Sai Baba temple at Dilsukhnagar, was changed at the last minute thanks to a visit by the commissioner of police to the temple last evening.

Sources in the NIA and the Hyderabad police say that had the Sai Baba temple indeed been used to plant a bomb, the death toll would crossed 50.

As per information available now, the plan was to plant three bombs in the area of the temple. But the terrorists found it difficult to place the bombs since the place was swarming with cops when the police commissioner visited the area.

The attackers had initially decided to target the devotees at the temple, but had it appears that they had a back up plan as well, which was to plant the bomb in other places. - Vicky Nanjappa
