Shinde to Parliament: Situation is under control

Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde addresses the Lok Sabha over the twin blasts in Hyderabad. Reading from his notes, Shinde says IEDs were placed in bicycles. 16 persons have died and 117 were injured in the blasts. Four people are critically injured. The crime scene was cordoned off and a team of NIA, police were pressed into service.

Shinde says he went to the blast site this morning as well. The PM has announced a Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia to families of deceased and Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh to the injured.

The situation is under control and the government is taking all possible measures to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
