So, how have investigating agencies linked the Lashkar-e-Tayiba (LeT)and the Indian Mujahideen (IM) to the Hyderabad blasts?

The investigations conducted by the Delhi police showed that the IM had done a recce in Hyderabad and the man responsible for it was a certain Maqbool who was recruited by the Lashkar-e-Tayiba.

The toll in last evening's powerful explosions has climbed to 16. Five of the 119 injured are stated to be in a critical condition.

Forensic experts of the NSG and the NIA and state police were examining all materials found from the blast sites and a final report was awaited.

The Delhi Police, along with Hyderabad Police, is expected to interrogate an alleged Indian Mujahideen terrorist, arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police from a place in Hyderabad last October.

Maqbool, who is currently in Tihar jail, had said the outfit was planning terror strikes in some places in Hyderabad for which recce had been carried out.

The Delhi police dossier of Maqbool, a copy of which has been handed over to the NIA and the Hyderabad police shows that he was spotted by a man called Azam Ghori way back in 1999. Ghori, a Lashkar operative met with Maqbool at Nizambad during a Tableeghi Jamaat meeting.

Maqbool was only 17 at that time and is said to have shown a great deal of promise to the cause. During that meeting the duo discussed social causes and also the problems that the community was facing. Ghori was impressed with Maqbool and told him to join the LeT.
