Kurien: Conscience clear, I WON'T step down
February 08, 2013  17:08
PJ Kurien, the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, said he has never asked for any appointment with Sonia Gandhi over the Suryanelli rape case, so there was no question of being refused a meeting. He further told news channels that his conscience was clear and that he had nothing to worry about. "The rape survivor is being used by my political opponents. Courts have given me a clean chit and I will not step down," he said.

Kurien has been accused by a rape survivor in Kerala of assaulting her when she was a school girl. In 1996 she says 42 men raped her in 40 days; though the Supreme Court has exonerated Kurien , she says he was among her attackers.

Kurien said the allegations were nothing but vendetta politics and it did not bother him.
