February 05, 2013  17:39
Band members of the all-girl music band Pragaash from Jammu and Kashmir told CNN IBN that they don't need government security and while it was good to know that action was taken against those who threatened, they had decided to disband. They said they were sad they couldn't t pursue music in the state. They also said they did not quit because of the threats they received on Facebook.

The J&K police filed an FIR against online abusers of the all-girl music band Pragaash, said sources. The police action came after an SMS threat was circulated against the all-girl band. The rock band was forced to disband after a fatwa was issued against them on Monday from the J&K Grand Mufti.

An angry chief minister Omar Abdullah told CNN-IBN that the fatwa is against spirit of Kashmiriyat and promised full security to the girls if they wish to continue singing.
