Dr Singh appoints Antony as ISI president

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has appointed Defence Minister A K Antony as president of the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata.

The post was earlier held by Pranab Mukherjee.

Antony, however, has refused to get the perks which he is entitled to as the president of the Institute.

The government has also appointed Dr C Rangarajan, chairman of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, ISI chairman.
