Won't withdraw case against Devyani; no question of apology: US

JUST IN: The case against senior Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade is not being "withdrawn', US sources tell PTI.
The US government intends to proceed with the prosecution of Khobragade, sources add.
The deadline for indictment of Khobragade is January 13, the sources say.
However, the sources concede that If Khobragade gets UN immunity she cannot be prosecuted or brought to court for the period of immunity, PTI reports.
But if she returns to India and then comes back to the US on a visit, the charges will stand and she could face arrest, the sources say.
There is no nefarious motive for arresting Khobragade, the sources add.
Prosecutors are continuing to gather more evidence before indictment is filed. The indicment will be brought, sources inform.
There is no question of apology to India; everything in the case has been done by the book, sources note.
