Child dies of cold in relief camp in Muzaffarnagar

A three-year old child has died reportedly due to cold in a private riot relief camp in Muzaffarnagar, UP. The death took place on the same day when Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi visited government relief camps in Shamli in the district.

Earlier, three children had also died due to cold in the camp. Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi made an unannounced visit to the riot-hit areas of Muzaffarnagar district during which he hit out at Uttar Pradesh government alleging the conditions in relief camps were "very bad".

More than 60 persons were killed and over 40,000 displaced in communal violence that had broken out in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas in September this year.
