Travesty of justice if Centre urges SC to probe Ganguly: Somnath
December 19, 2013  17:30
Coming to the defence of beleaguered Justice AK Ganguly again, former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today said it would be a 'travesty of justice' if the Supreme Court was requested by the Centre to probe into the allegations against him afresh.

"It would be a travesty of justice. The Supreme Court has already made an administrative inquiry. How can the Supreme Court go into its own findings again?" Chatterjee told PTI.

He was commenting on the Home Ministry seeking the opinion of the Law Ministry for sending a Presidential reference to the Supreme Court to probe the allegations against Justice Ganguly and give its recommendations on the issue of removing him as chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission.
