Maharashtra Assembly passes anti-superstition bill
December 13, 2013  18:11
The Maharashtra assembly passed the landmark Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other evils and Aghori practices Act today.

This is the landmark bill which the late Dr Narendra Dabholkar had toiled for and paid with his life when he was murdered by people who opposed his anti-superstition ideology.

Dr Dabholkar's son Hamid told Rediff.com, "We are happy that this Bill has been passed. This is just the beginning. I hope it is passed soon in the Upper House and is made a law soon, as it will definitely help in preventing more innocent people from falling prey to such inhuman ills which allow human sacrifices." -- Nita Kolhatkar.
