Lokpal Bill in RS today, Mayawati promises support

Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) stunning poll debut, Anna Hazare's ongoing fast and the approaching Lok Sabha election has brought the Lokpal bill back to political centrestage, with the Manmohan Singh government displaying fresh zeal in seeking its passage.

With the government pushing the anti-graft law after a year's hiatus, BJP said the legislation can be passed without further discussion if certain clauses like measures to enhance the autonomy of the CBI are made part of the bill.

The BSP has said it will support the Lokpal Bill.
