Sonia Gandhi criticises SC ruling on gay sex

After what seemed to be a non-committal response by its ministers just after the judgement, the ruling Congress came out strongly against the verdict and said Section 377 must be repealed.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi said, "The court suggested another course. I hope Parliament will address the issue and uphold the Constitutional guarantee of life and liberty to all citizens, including those directly affected by the judgement." 

This came as two senior ministers, Law Minister Kapil Sibal and Finance Minister P Chidambaram, also said all possible options were being explored.
