A death picture of Nelson Mandela, lying in state, was posted on the internet today, prompting angry reactions from the people and the South African government, who denounced the breach of custom.

Tens of thousands of people queued to file past Mandela's body, lying in state, at the Unions Buildings, where he assumed charge as the country's first black and freely elected president in 1994.

Someone took a picture of Mandela, lying in state, and posted it on Twitter.

When the news of the image broke today morning, many believed it was a hoax because of the tight security around Mandela's body, The Star reported.
