China issues serious alert for worsening smog
December 07, 2013  16:59
China today issued a serious alert for worsening smog in central and eastern regions, a day after the country's financial hub suffered one of its worst bouts of smog, delaying flights and forcing people to stay inside.

The China Meteorological Centre upgraded the alert from yellow to orange alert, the second-highest warning in China's weather system, in central and eastern regions.

The lingering smog is expected to end in two days, the NMC said.
